Utah heritage foundation is proposing the installation of a pedestal mailbox near the south entrance gate of memory grove park. The proposed site is located east of the south entrance gate between an evergreen shrub and black trashcan which will help to minimize its visual impact. This is the previous location of a park map that was mounted on a wood post. The sign was removed in 2013 after a new map was installed inside the park. The pedestal mailbox will require the installation of a small concrete pad submerged in the dirt. A secure locking pedestal mailbox was chosen because of the risk of non-mail items being placed in a non-locking mailbox by park patrons. This was the only type of mailbox that could fit those needs. The color of the proposed pedestal mailbox is black which will not detract from the historic integrity of the entrance gate nor from the park as a whole.
