Fire damage repair to bathroom, smoke and water, no plans req.; 8 11 09 commercial building permit required, no plans, for repair of fire damage to bathroom in #5, with no extension. Structure is 2 story, wood frame r2 apartment building, and #5 is on lower floor. Fire damage limited to burning away of most of base of doubled studs at wall at end of tub. Pfb opened portins of wall and ceiling. Provide or restore 1 hour wall behind tub enclosure and at ceiling. Wall is separaration from laundry room and ceiling is unit separation. Maintain or restore all fireblocking. Restore r c at ceiling and replace smoke damaged sound insulation. If bath fan replaced, obtain mt. Fan is located in joist bay with joists perpendicular to wall at end of tub. As there is no soffit for duct, duct must extend to separation wall and up separation wall to attic and to roof jack. This configuration would not currently be approved without fire damper.
