Fire in framing and cabinetry above fireplace that has throat filled in and no connection to flue. Scrape and seal all fire and smoke damaged framing not removed by demolition. Provide minimum 4x8 header at fireplace and restore cripple studs, maintaining 2" clearance to masonry for all new framing, or remove blanked-off fireplace and provide bottom plate and full length studs. The latter is preferred option as fire cause apparently relates to fireplace firebox without a connection to chimney. Provide firestopping at fireplace chase where exposed by opening walls; use 26 ga. Metal or mineral wool. Provide smoke detectors to code. Repair damaged branch circuit(s) per code, e. G.
