The applicant is requesting approval of an administrative special fence permit the second in a series of three request for a 6-foot high cedar fence along the rear property line within the side yard setback along a street in the residential - 8 dwelling units per acre (r-8) zone. The proposed fence would extend along the rear property line to 5-feet east of the easterly side property line. Fence materials would include 1"x4" or 1"x6" cedar boards and pressure treated 4"x4" posts with cedar post caps (exhibit 2). The fence posts would be placed at a minimum every 4 feet and a maximum of 8 feet. Renton municipal code (rmc 4-4-040d. 2. D) allows fences with a maximum height of 72 inches (6 feet) along the rear property line except the fence shall be limited to 48 inches (4 feet) in height where it intersects the width of the required side yard along-a-street setback.
