All excavation operations shall comply with district department of transportation standard specifications for highways and structures sections 207 and 611. All work shall be conducted so as to avoid injury to tree trunks, branches, and roots. Excavations within limits of tree root spread shall proceed with care either by use of hand tools or with equipment that will not cause tree root damage.
