We intend to replace the current cast iron railings on the front porch with fiber glass wrapped columns in a style consistent with the original home based on the attached historic photo. The railings and balusters for both the porch and upper balcony will be replaced with new material matching the original proportions and spacing as close as possible. To accomplish this, the upper balcony will need to be shored up and materials replaced where needed. The extent of this will not be known until construction begins. The lower porch will need to be dismantled to allow for repair of existing brick support columns and the pouring of additional support footings as required by a structural engineer assessment. The lower porch and stairs will then be constructed from new materials. From calculations made from the original photo as well as other historic photos the following dimensions and materials will be used.
