We have decided to build the deck using red hardwood because of its renowned durability and its attractive appearance. The deck was designed by a structural engineer and meets all current building codes. The railing will be 42" high and the metal spindles will be 5" apart. The appearance of the deck will be similar to the existing roof decks at 683 and 685 massachusetts ave. See attached pictures for views. All materials will be brought in/out via a construction lift that the contractor will be coordinating. We will also be replacing our existing skylight with a new energy efficient sky light in order to provide easier access to the roof. The 60"x 35" sky light is currently not visible from the community garden on northampton st .
