Landscaping project to improve the side yard of the lorna doone/ wilshire arms apartments at 234 e 1st ave in salt lake city. This side yard is very steep and struggles to maintain grass or other plantings which contributes to an erosion problem. The owners desire to improve the side yard by adding boulders to the existing landscape. This will add some variance to the existing grade without changing the overall grade of the property. This in turn will allow us to then add vegetation that will improve the aesthetics of the property and reduce the erosion problem. We plan to use 1 to 4 granite boulders to fit with the existing historical feel of the area. The boulders will be embedded in the soil so a small side section is visible above grade. The vegetation will consist of a variety of plants, shrubs and trees recommended by the department of historical preservation. Pictures of a similar landscape design are attached.
