I would like to renovate my kitchen. To do so, i plan to move the stairs from the first floor to the basement (please see code modification approval) and remove a load-bearing wall to open the space between the kitchen and dining room. Per the attached plans, i will put in a beam with the proper structural support to take the load from the upper floors. The stairs will be moved from their current location to the location under the stairs to the second floor in order to bring the stairs closer to code, per the code modification application and approval. Once the structural changes are made, i will replace the kitchen cabinets and appliances.
