Installation of awning to shelter pedestrians and customers, replacing a prior, approved awning (certificate of appropriateness #14-38711-hdlc) on the bourbon street facade of the astor crowne plaza hotel, located at 735-737 canal street/1 bourbon street. The awning will be designed to be historically appropriate, in shape, material, and location, contributing to the overall character of the historic building faade on which it is to be installed as close to historical examples as possible. The proposed awning will comply fully with all hdlc guidelines, including its traditional shape, canvas material, laced construction, and placement and dimensions. We selected c. Bel for awnings for their historical performance and extensive experience completing similar installations for other historical sites within the french quarter and new orleans at large and to ensure that the awning is securely built, will not pose a threat to pedestrians and other passersby, and are not at risk from any other
